El na+ es altamente t\u00f3xico para las plantas, porque, entre otros muchos aspectos, compite por los sistemas de absorci\u00f3n de k+, lo que resulta en una deficiencia nutricional de este cati\u00f3n y una perturbaci\u00f3n del potencial osm\u00f3tico de la c\u00e9lula. En este sentido, la homeostasis de na+  y k+ es un mecanismo clave en la tolerancia al estr\u00e9s salino y constituye un proceso global complejo y coordinado, que conlleva el mantenimiento en el citoplasma de una alta raz\u00f3n k+\/na+. Mantener bajos niveles de na+ en el interior celular no es una tarea f\u00e1cil para las plantas, especialmente cuando los niveles de este i\u00f3n son muy elevados en los suelos salinos que las rodean. Para tolerar la sal, las plantas suelen adoptar alguna o combinaci\u00f3n de estas estrategias: transportar el na+ de nuevo al medio, secuestrarlo en vacuolas y recircularlo o redistribuirlo a tejido viejos. En el presente trabajo hemos identificado funcionalmente, utilizando un abordaje funcional en levadura e in planta (rnai), los genes de la ruta sos en tomate, un m\u00f3dulo funcional, que controla la
