En concreto, se han estudiado las propiedades fototerap\u00e9uticas de la familia de las furocumarinas, empleadas com\u00fanmente como fotosensibilizadores en la denominada terapia puva. Adem\u00e1s, se han racionalizado ciertos hallazgos experimentales referentes a las propiedades de d\u00edmeros de bases del adn.  empleando metodolog\u00eda \u00abab initio\u00bb muy precisa, concretamente caspt2\/\/casscf, se han abordado los problemas de tratar con estados excitados de mol\u00e9culas, que requieren un tratamiento especial debido a su naturaleza multiconfiguracional. Era necesario trazar el mecanismo fotof\u00edsico y fotoqu\u00edmico subyacente en la fototerapia para sugerir mejores fotosensibilizadores. En concreto, se han estudiado caracter\u00edsticas espectrosc\u00f3picas como energ\u00edas de absorci\u00f3n y emisi\u00f3n (verticales y or\u00edgenes de banda), soc, tiempos de vida radiativos, etc&#8230; Asimismo, se ha analizado los caminos de desexcitaci\u00f3n de la energ\u00eda (mep, liic) buscando los cruces entre hipersuperficies de energ\u00eda potencial (ci, stc), claves en la fotoqu\u00edmica te\u00f3rica moderna. Las geometr\u00edas y los puntos de cruce se han calculado a nivel rasscf, mientras que las propiedades de transici\u00f3n han sido obtenidas mediante el m\u00e9todo cassi.
