La act se sintetiza de forma inactiva y requiere de la palmitilaci\u00f3n en la lys983 para activarse. La toxina se divide en dos dominios: el dominio rtx o hemol\u00edtico, que altera la permeabilidad de la membrana, y un dominio adenilato ciclasa (ac). El dominio ac es capaz de translocar al interior de la c\u00e9lula donde cataliza ampc de forma incontrolada, tras la uni\u00f3n a calmodulina. La actividad ac es la propiedad distintiva de la act y la que ha sido directamente implicada en la patogenicidad de la bacteria.  la uni\u00f3n de la act a macr\u00f3fagos, neutr\u00f3filos y c\u00e9lulas dendr\u00edticas est\u00e1r\u00eda mediada por el que se ha descrito el receptor celular, la integrina cd11b\/cd18, aunque la act es capaz de unirse practicamente a todo tipo de c\u00e9lulas con independencia de que presenten o no dicho receptor.  modificaciones post-traduccionales como palmitilaciones parecen determinar la localizaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de prote\u00ednas en microdominios de membrana tipo raft.  en esta tesis se han llevado a cabo estudios de localizaci\u00f3n de la toxina en membranas celulares y la influencia de la palmitilaci\u00f3n y la presencia de la integrina cd11b\/cd18 en dicha localizaci\u00f3n. Ad\u00e9mas, se ha caracterizado la elevaci\u00f3n de calcio intracelular inducida por la act y sus posibles efectos sobre las c\u00e9lulas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
