Estas plumas atmosf\u00e9ricas transportan nutrientes, t\u00f3xicos y microorganismos a miles de kil\u00f3metros de distancia. Sus efectos globales se han empezado a explorar en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os. Los nutrientes aerotransportados tienen efectos fertilizantes remotos sobre comunidades de plantas y microorganismos acu\u00e1ticos como han constatado estudios recientes. La comunidad de bacterias aerotransportadas, en cambio, resulta m\u00e1s desconocida y aunque ha sido explorada mediante t\u00e9cnicas tradicionales de cultivo y de an\u00e1lisis gen\u00e9tico, todav\u00eda se sabe muy poco acerca de su composici\u00f3n y de su viabilidad y capacidad de colonizaci\u00f3n. En esta tesis doctoral hemos abordado aspectos relacionados con la viabilidad y capacidad colonizadora de las bacterias aerotransportadas, utilizando como sistemas modelo lagos de alta monta\u00f1a situados en el observatorio limnol\u00f3gico de los pirineos. Este tipo de lagos son excelentes sensores de cambios ambientales por su condici\u00f3n de oligotrofia extrema y su localizaci\u00f3n aislada. Adem\u00e1s, se encuentran presentes en todas las latitudes del planeta permitiendo la extrapolaci\u00f3n de estos estudios locales a una escala global. Hemos explorado la interfase aire-agua de estos sistemas confirmando que el neuston (comunidad biol\u00f3gica encontrada en la interfase) act\u00faa como un buen sensor de las entradas de bacterias al\u00f3ctonas presentes en aerosoles de origen sahariano. Mediante experimentos de enriquecimiento en microcosmos utilizando polvo de diferentes fuentes (de arenas en mauritania y aerosoles recogidos en colectores atmosf\u00e9ricos situados en pirineos), hemos identificado cinco tipos diferentes de bacterias seg\u00fan su biogeograf\u00eda, desde bacterias cosmopolitas aerotransportadas capaces de colonizar ambientes acu\u00e1ticos remotos (airborne-betproteobacteria), hasta clusters no aerotransportados end\u00e9micos de agua dulce dentro de los phyla betaproteobacteria y bacteroidetes. Adem\u00e1s, se han detectado filotipos del g\u00e9nero acinetobacter de amplia distribuci\u00f3n que de manera recurrente colonizan estos ambientes remotos pero sin llegar a establecerse como miembros dominantes de la comunidad.  Hemos comprobado que las entradas de polvo sahariano afectan directamente a la din\u00e1mica temporal de las poblaciones lacustres de gamma- y betaproteobacteria pero no a la de actinobacteria y bacteroidetes. Finalmente, en un estudio cubriendo parte de la variabilidad altitudinal dentro del observatorio, hemos constatado la capacidad colonizadora de ciertas bacterias aerotransportadas en estos ambientes
