El metodo sol-gel ha sido propuesto por muchos autores que utilizan h2s como fuente de azufre, pero los vidrios asi obtenidos presentaban problemas de oxidacion al exponerlos al aire.  en este trabajo se han obtenido vidriosdopados con cds en una matriz de sio2, usando dimetilsulfoxido como fuente de azufre y disolvente con el fin de evitar los problemas de toxicidad y utilizacion del h2s, asi como lograr un encapsulamiento efectivo que los preserve de la oxidacion.  los resultados que presentan indican que la via sol-gel polimerica utilizando cd(ac)2, teos y dimetilsulfoxido conduce a vidrios que exhiben efectos de tama\u00f1o cuantico, ya que se desplaza el salto de banda del limite de absorcion hacia energias mayores que las correspondientes a un cristal puro de cds.
