Entendiendo como tal la propiedad de ciertos materiales de experimentar largas deformaciones al aplicar un esfuerzo y retornar al estado original una vez cesado \u00e9ste. Esta pro piedad proviene de la gran flexibilidad que presentan las macromol\u00e9culas de las que est\u00e1 constituido formando un conjunto de cadenas entrelazadas mediante uniones estables cuyo resultado final es una red. Pero para que esta red mantenga sus propiedad es (flexibilidad y estabilidad), es fundamental formar un ret\u00edculo mediante un proceso conocido como \u00abvulcanizaci\u00f3n\u00bb. Esta no es m\u00e1s que un proceso qu\u00edmico de uni\u00f3n carbono-carbono entre las macromol\u00e9culas del pol\u00edmero. El agente entrecruzante m\u00e1s ut ilizado en la industria actual del caucho es sin duda el sistema azufre &#8211; acelerante, pero existen otros alternativos como son los per\u00f3xidos org\u00e1nicos, como el per\u00f3xido de dicumilo (dcp) usado en la presente memoria. el mecanismo de vulcanizaci\u00f3n b\u00e1s icamente consiste en la uni\u00f3n c-c mediante dos reacciones fundamentales: abstracci\u00f3n y\/o adici\u00f3n. El balance entre ambas va a depender del agente entrecruzante y su concentraci\u00f3n, de la tremperatura de reacci\u00f3n y de la estructura del elast\u00f3mero.  el objetivo de esta memoria es dilucidar el o los mecanismos que sigue la reacci\u00f3n de vulcanizaci\u00f3n con per\u00f3xidos org\u00e1nicos (dcp),  qu\u00e9 tipo de red se obtiene (homog\u00e9nea o heterog\u00e9nea) y por \u00faltimo las propiedades finales del art\u00edculo vulcanizado.
