Los motivos se producen fuera de la obra y posteriormente se aplican sobre \u00e9sta creando una decoraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s amplia. Se origina en centro europa y se difunde al sur de europa generaliz\u00e1ndose su uso desde mediados del siglo xv hasta mediados del siglo xvi. la diseminaci\u00f3n de la documentaci\u00f3n existente, la carencia de estudios met\u00f3dicos y concluyentes, el mal estado de conservaci\u00f3n de la t\u00e9cnica y el hallazgo de nuevos ejemplos en el norte de espa\u00f1a ha conducido a realizar una tesis doctoral sobre el brocado aplicado en el territorio hist\u00f3rico de la provincia de guip\u00fazcoa donde no se ha localizado ning\u00fan estudio global sobre la materia. Concretamente esta t\u00e9cnica se concentra en seis retablos proporcionando un an\u00e1lisis completo de la misma en la regi\u00f3n.      los objetivos se han centrado en analizar el tema a trav\u00e9s del estudio de las fuentes documentales para asistir en el establecimiento de un espec\u00edfico protocolo de actuaci\u00f3n in situ y en laboratorio que nos ha permitido acceder a un conocimiento profundo y con rigor cient\u00edfico de las t\u00e9cnicas y los materiales de los brocados aplicados de los seis retablos guipuzcoanos. Asimismo, este corpus de documentaci\u00f3n ha contribuido a aclarar y completar interrogantes pendientes de comprobaci\u00f3n.  los resultados y conclusiones obtenidos han mostrado reveladoras realidades de gran inter\u00e9s y utilidad para diversas disciplinas descubriendo al mismo tiempo muy diversas y fruct\u00edferas l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n para el
