Empleamos una nomenclatura com\u00fan para las obras de arte de los siglos xvii y xviii a pesar de presentar caracter\u00edsticas generalmente bien diferentes e incluso contradictorias con respecto a lo que debemos entender como obra barroca. Esta tesis analiza dicha contradicci\u00f3n desde una metodolog\u00eda hermen\u00e9utica y desde la conciencia de la propia historicidad del histori\u00f3grafo. Por ello comenzamos nuestro an\u00e1lisis por los tratados del siglo xvii, que se consideraban herederos de una tradici\u00f3n cl\u00e1sica, para despu\u00e9s analizar la historiograf\u00eda posterior que no interpret\u00f3 adecuadamente esa adscripci\u00f3n clasicista. Se comenz\u00f3 as\u00ed a generar unos malentendidos interpretativos a los que hay que a\u00f1adir la utilizaci\u00f3n de modelos te\u00f3ricos extranjeros para analizar nuestro barroco, manipulados incluso por cuestiones pol\u00edticas.
