Un ejemplo importante es el an\u00e1lisis de la expresi\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica mediante microarrays, donde est\u00e1n involucradas no s\u00f3lo las grandes matrices de expresi\u00f3n derivadas de experimentos con microarrays, sino tambi\u00e9n los (a menudo) complejos resultados de su an\u00e1lisis y la cantidad de fuentes externas de conocimiento que se pueden utilizar para confirmar o validar los resultados del experimento. Esta cantidad de informaci\u00f3n hace necesario el uso de todas las habilidades cognitivas del analista, no s\u00f3lo abstractas, sino tambi\u00e9n perceptivas. El uso de t\u00e9cnicas de miner\u00eda de datos no supervisadas contribuye a descubrir nueva informaci\u00f3n a partir de los datos de expresi\u00f3n, normalmente en forma de grupos o clasificaciones. Especialmente, los m\u00e9todos de biclustering se han utilizado con bastante \u00e9xito para este fin.
