La tesis se divide en tres ensayos todos ellos basados en la perspectiva te\u00f3rica del curso de vida. Se hace uso de t\u00e9cnicas cuantitativas de an\u00e1lisis de acontecimientos (event history analysis) para analizar trayectorias residenciales de j\u00f3venes adultos. En el primer ensayo se analiza el primer evento de movilidad geogr\u00e1fica de larga distancia desde los 16 a\u00f1os en alemania occidental. El segundo ensayo abarca el anal\u00edsis de la duraci\u00f3n residencial de sequencias dentro y fuera del hogar paternal en el reino unido. El tercer ensayo se centra en el an\u00e1lisis de multiples mecanismos detras del efecto negativo de la proximidad geogr\u00e1fica de la familia en la movilidad geogr\u00e1fica.
