Estas l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n han resurgido con fuerza en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, ya que otras aproximaciones (entre ellas la qu\u00edmica combinatoria) no han producido los resultados esperados. en este trabajo se lleva a cabo la s\u00edntesis de la sesterterpenolida aislada por faulkner de la esponja luffariella variabilis, con el objeto de corroborar su estructura, establecida \u00fanicamente en base a sus propiedades espectrosc\u00f3picas, as\u00ed como establecer definitivamente la estereoqu\u00edmica del carbono 16.  la estrategia sint\u00e9tica se basa en la utilizaci\u00f3n de un compuesto natural abundante que contiene parte del esqueleto carbonado, lo que se conoce como \u00abpool quiral\u00bb.
