Se produjeron importantes perturbaciones en el ciclo del carbono atribuidas principalmente a un intenso volcanismo en el pac\u00edfico. Se desencadenaron grandes cambios paleoceanogr\u00e1ficos, entre ellos el oae1a y la crisis de biocalcificaci\u00f3n. El objetivo de esta tesis es reconstruir el sistema de rampa mixto carbonatado-silicicl\u00e1stico del aptiense inferior de la sierra de aralar, e investigar su respuesta a estos cambios paleoceanogr\u00e1ficos globales. Los dep\u00f3sitos del aptiense inferior de aralar son de extraordinaria potencia (hasta 1000 m) y se han estudiado desde un punto de vista multidisciplinar, incluyendo estratigraf\u00eda-sedimentolog\u00eda, biostratigraf\u00eda de ammonites, is\u00f3topos estables y geoqu\u00edmica de la materia org\u00e1nica. Se ha establecido formalmente la estratigraf\u00eda del aptiense inferior del \u00e1rea de estudio y se han interpretado sedimentol\u00f3gicamente las unidades distinguidas. La biozonaci\u00f3n presentada es \u00fanica, debido a la coexistencia de los g\u00e9neros deshayesites y dufrenoyia durante casi todo el aptiense inferior tard\u00edo. Consta de las zonas d.Oglanlensis, d.Weissi, d.Deshayesi, transici\u00f3n d.Deshayesi-d.Furcata y dufrenoyia furcata. Bas\u00e1ndonos en la composici\u00f3n del \u00c2\u00bf13c de los carbonatos y del carbono org\u00e1nico, se ha identificado el equivalente estratigr\u00e1fico del oae1a en las secciones de aralar. Un intervalo con abundantes ammonites al comienzo del oae1a se ha interpretado como indicativo de un aumento en la productividad primaria de las aguas superficiales ligado a las perturbaciones del ciclo del carbono. Mediante an\u00e1lisis elemental (toc), cromatograf\u00eda de gases y pir\u00f3lisis rock-eval se ha caracterizado por primera vez en la cuenca un nuevo episodio an\u00f3xico (nivel de aparein), de edad aptiense inferior alto (d.Furcata), que podr\u00eda representar un subevento dentro del oae1 (aptiense-albiense).
