Por lo tanto, es necesario tener un juego de herramientas capaces de predecir o determinar d\u00f3nde y cu\u00e1ndo es m\u00e1s probable que ocurra un incendio, adem\u00e1s de evaluar los efectos de los mismos. Debido a que los incendios forestales pueden ocurrir en pr\u00e1cticamente cualquier lugar donde haya vegetaci\u00f3n, tales herramientas requieren la evaluaci\u00f3n del peligro de incendio forestal para vastas superficies con una frecuencia temporal adecuada. en esta tesis se propone la generaci\u00f3n de un \u00edndice de peligro de incendio forestal por medio de la teledetecci\u00f3n y los sistemas de informaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica (sig), la primera como fuente de datos y la segunda como herramienta de an\u00e1lisis de datos espaciales con alto grado de complejidad. La generaci\u00f3n de dicho \u00edndice sint\u00e9tico estar\u00e1 basada en una integraci\u00f3n de modo jer\u00e1rquico a partir de distintas variables de entrada. adem\u00e1s de desarrollar tal \u00edndice sint\u00e9tico, en esta tesis tambi\u00e9n se presentan metodolog\u00edas para generar algunas de las variables de entrada: la ocurrencia de incendios causados por rayo y el contenido de humedad de los combustibles vivos y muertos. Para cada uno de estos factores, se han aplicado distintas metodolog\u00edas. Se han utilizado t\u00e9cnicas de regresi\u00f3n log\u00edstica, junto con an\u00e1lisis sig, para la elaboraci\u00f3n de un modelo de probabilidad de ocurrencia de incendios causados por rayo (cap\u00edtulo i). Por otro lado, la estimaci\u00f3n del contenido de  humedad fue realizada a trav\u00e9s de t\u00e9cnicas de teledetecci\u00f3n. Ya que el contenido de humedad de los combustibles muertos est\u00e1 muy relacionado con factores meteorol\u00f3gicos, se han utilizado las im\u00e1genes del sensor spinning enhanced visible infrared imager, a bordo de la segunda generaci\u00f3n de sat\u00e9lites meteosat, (msg-seviri) para estimar la temperatura del aire y la humedad relativa cada 15 minutos (cap\u00edtulos ii y iii). El contenido de humedad de la vegetaci\u00f3n viva fue estimado con datos del sensor modis dentro de un modelo de series temporales (cap\u00edtulo iv).
