Con el uso de t\u00e9cnicas biof\u00edsicas ya consolidadas y con la incorporaci\u00f3n de otras de gran potencial, se han empleado sistemas modelo de membrana para caracterizar en detalle interacciones l\u00edpido-l\u00edpido con los siguientes objetivos:  * examinar la interacci\u00f3n del l\u00edpido \u00e9ter antitumoral edelfosina con membranas modelo y su afinidad por los esteroles. * explorar la segregaci\u00f3n lateral inducida por ceramidas en mezclas lip\u00eddicas de complejidad creciente.  los resultados de esta tesis revelan que la edelfosina se comporta como un anfifilo soluble con una potente actividad surfactante, y que puede f\u00e1cilmente incorporarse en membranas biol\u00f3gicas, paso inicial en su postulada actividad celular antitumoral. La edelfosina puede generar liposomas estables en mezclas binarias con varios esteroles, desde los cuales es liberada muy lentamente anulando por completo su actividad hemol\u00edtica y preservando intacta su actividad apoptog\u00e9nica asociada. Los resultados apoyan el posible uso de liposomas edelfosina\/esterol como transportadores del f\u00e1rmaco en terapias anticancerosas.             nuestros estudios confirman una potente actividad de la ceramida en la generaci\u00f3n de dominios segregados en varias membranas modelo. La presencia y estabilidad de estos dominios aparece altamente dependiente del contenido de colesterol, lo que apoya la idea de un equilibrio cr\u00edtico entre los niveles de ceramida y colesterol en membranas celulares. Este equilibrio actuar\u00eda como potente modulador de la activaci\u00f3n de procesos de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n celular como la apoptosis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
