Siendo el di\u00f3xido de titanio un compuesto biocompatible y radiopaco, al igual que el \u00f3xido de bismuto, pero con el potencial de mejorar las propiedades del cemento, al blanquearlo o aumentar sus resistencias (indicador de calidad y longevidad del cemento) .Para ello, se compar\u00f3 la biocompatibilidad y algunas de las propiedades f\u00edsicas (color y resistencias) del mta, as\u00ed como del cemento portland y de 5 prototipos: uno con un 20% de \u00f3xido de bismuto a\u00f1adido al cemento portland (prototipo de composici\u00f3n semejante al mta), y el resto con distintos porcentajes de di\u00f3xido de titanio a\u00f1adidos al cemento portland, 1%, 10%, 20% y 30%, respectivamente. en el estudio de biocompatibilidad se utiliz\u00f3 una l\u00ednea celular l929 estandarizada, se realiz\u00f3 mediante un m\u00e9todo indirecto con extractos, siguiendo las normas iso 10993-5 de test de citotoxicidad in vitro. En el estudio de las resistencias mec\u00e1nicas se siguieron las normas une-en 196-1 y en la colorimetr\u00eda las normas une-80.117\/17. el mta mostr\u00f3 mejor porcentaje de viabilidad
