Por una parte, el repaso hist\u00f3rico de su trayectoria profesional revela la frustrada pretensi\u00f3n de mur oti de realizar un cine ambicioso que no se correspond\u00eda con la precaria situaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica de la industria cinematogr\u00e1fica espa\u00f1ola durante el franquismo. Por otra, el an\u00e1lisis textual de sus filmes da prueba de la existencia de un estilo propiamente murotiano, entendido como sincretismo de elementos tem\u00e1ticos y formales. Ese estilo impuro y manierista, que hibrida de manera singular fuentes tradicionalmente espa\u00f1olas con otras for\u00e1neas, tiene su primera y m\u00e1s n\u00edtida manifestaci\u00f3n en un cuarteto de pel\u00edculas (un hombre va por el camino, condenados, orgullo y fedra). Cuatro relatos cosmog\u00f3nicos centrados en personajes femeninos que abordan desde una perspectiva m\u00edtica la pasi\u00f3n sexual entre hombre y mujer. El estilo o sistema axial que se configura en dicha tetralog\u00eda tiene, en forma de variaciones e inversiones, sucesivas r\u00e9plicas de distinta naturaleza a lo largo y ancho de su
