Tomando como punto de partida una amplia revisi\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica de las principales aportaciones realizadas por los estudios del temperamento en el contexto educativo en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas y apoy\u00e1ndonos en la amplia experiencia investigadora de rothbart (rothbart y bates, 2006), consideramos que el an\u00e1lisis de las caracter\u00edsticas temperamentales de los ni\u00f1os -especialmente las relacionadas con la autorregulaci\u00f3n conductual y emocional (el control con esfuerzo)- pueden contribuir a la comprensi\u00f3n del ajuste y rendimiento que el ni\u00f1o realiza en la escuela.   \tla metodolog\u00eda seguida en este estudio se caracteriza por emplear una muestra de 49 ni\u00f1os pertenecientes a un estudio longitudinal, en los cuales mediante un dise\u00f1o multim\u00e9todo y multinformante se han analizado las relaciones del temperamento con el funcionamiento educativo de los ni\u00f1os. Para medir el temperamento se han utilizado cuestionarios cumplimentados por las madres y tareas de laboratorio. En la medida del funcionamiento educativo de los ni\u00f1os, siguiendo la formulaci\u00f3n de keogh (2003), se ha contemplando diversos aspectos tales como: a) el rendimiento acad\u00e9mico sobre un curr\u00edculo (lengua y matem\u00e1ticas evaluadas por el profesor y a trav\u00e9s de test), b) su competencia acad\u00e9mica informada por el profesor, c) su ajuste personal (autoestima informada
