Estos yacimientos corresponden al llamado complejo marino de transicion que, mediante la malacofauna, puede datarse como perteneciente al intervalo burdigaliense sup.-Serravaliense inf. Se citan por primera vez 9 especies en el mioceno medio europeo, 28 en el neogeno catalan y 36 en el mioceno del alt penedes. La presencia de vaginella austriaca permite correlacionar 9 yacimientos por primera vez. A partir del estudio sistematico de los gasteropodos se obtienen nuevos datos paleoclimaticos que confirman el caracter tropical de las aguas mediterraneas occidentales durante el langhiense.  desde
