Estos tratamientos introducen un campo de tensiones residuales de compresi\u00f3n en las cercan\u00edas de la superficie, zona donde aparecen altas tensiones como consecuencia del contacto. Para ello, se han realizado una serie de ensayos de fatiga por fretting sobre probetas a las cuales se les han aplicado estos tratamientos. Para completar este estudio, se han medido en cada uno de los diferentes tratamientos, el campo de tensiones residuales, la relajaci\u00f3n de las tensiones residuales por  la acci\u00f3n  de las cargas c\u00edclicas, el coeficiente de fricci\u00f3n, la rugosidad superficial y la dureza del material. Tambi\u00e9n se ha desarrollado un modelo para predecir la vida a fatoga por fretting. La vida se estima teniendo en cuenta las tensiones residuales inducidas por los tratamientos de laser y shotpeening y su relajaci\u00f3n durante el ensayo. Estas tensiones residuales se midieron y se introdujeron en el modelo como tensiones dependientes del n\u00famero de ciclos. Dos tipos de relajaci\u00f3n fueron usadas: pl\u00e1stica y relajaci\u00f3n debida a la fatiga. Para estimar la vida \u00e9sta se calcula como la combinaci\u00f3n de la vida empleada en la fase de iniciaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s la vida asociada a la fase de propagaci\u00f3n. La longitud de transici\u00f3n no se fija a priori sino que depende de las condiciones particulares de carga, geometr\u00eda y propiedades del material del problema analizado. Las estimaciones de vida se comparan con los resultados experimentales con el objeto de entender el efecto de la relajaci\u00f3n de tensiones sobre la vida.
