Adem\u00e1s de las trxs cloroplast\u00eddicas y citos\u00f3licas, las mitocondrias de plantas contienen una tiorredoxina reductasa dependiente de nadph (ntr) y una trx o espec\u00edfica, y hasta la fecha no se ha descrito ning\u00fan gen que codifique una trx nuclear. En esta tesis doctoral se describe por vez primera, la presencia en mitocondrias y n\u00facleo de guisante (pisum sativum l.) De una trx o (pstrxo1) caracterizada por la ausencia de intrones en su secuencia gen\u00f3mica, caracter\u00edstica \u00e9sta at\u00edpica entre las trxs. Mediante an\u00e1lisis western blot a partir de mitocondrias y n\u00facleos purificados de hojas de guisante, inmunolocalizaci\u00f3n y estudios de expresi\u00f3n transitoria de la prote\u00edna fusionada a gfp, se ha demostrado la colocalizaci\u00f3n de pstrxo1 en ambos compartimentos celulares. M\u00e1s a\u00fan, la identificaci\u00f3n por ms\/ms de la trx mitocondrial nativa empleando mitocondrias altamente purificadas y t\u00e9cnicas de fplc, as\u00ed como ensayos in vitro de importaci\u00f3n a mitocondrias aisladas, han corroborado la localizaci\u00f3n mitocondrial de esta prote\u00edna. la prote\u00edna recombinante pstrxo1 se ha demostrado que posee actividad trx, reduci\u00e9ndose de forma m\u00e1s efectiva por la ntr mitocondrial de saccharomyces cerevesiae (trr2) que por la citos\u00f3lica de trigo, constituyendo as\u00ed in vivo parte de un sistema ntr\/trx
