Se describe la sintesis, sulfonacion y metalacion de las porfirinas consideradas asi como sus procesos de purificacion.  se describe detalladamente el comportamiento en medioacido de la meso-tetraquis(4-sulfonatofenil)porfirina de tetrasodio y la formacion de agregados de esta porfirina.  en un segundo capitulo se describe la sintesis de pigmentos biliares que presentan restricciones conformacionales y su comportamiento de homoasociacion en solucion. Se pone a punto un procedimiento sinteticopara la obtencion de bilirrubinas cicladas a traves de sus cadenas de acidos propanoicos.  se describe un procedimiento sinteticopara la obtencion de
